How long does a full bathroom tiling project take?

A standard bathroom typically takes two to four days, depending on tile size and complexity. Wet rooms with waterproofing membranes need an extra day for curing before tiling starts. We give you an accurate timeframe when we see the space.

Do you tile wet rooms and shower enclosures?

Yes. Wet rooms require a properly tanked substrate before any tile goes down. We supply and apply the tanking system as part of the job, so you have one contractor responsible for the whole waterproof envelope.

Can you install large format tiles in my bathroom?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Large format tiles need a very flat, level substrate. We use self-levelling compounds and a laser level to achieve the tolerances the tiles demand. Getting the prep right is what prevents lippage and cracked tiles later.

What types of tile adhesive do you use in bathrooms?

We use flexible, water-resistant adhesive as standard in all wet areas. For heavy natural stone we use single-part white adhesive to avoid bleed-through staining. We always follow the tile manufacturer and adhesive manufacturer guidance.

Will you grout and seal the tiles too?

Yes, grouting and sealing are part of the finished job. We use grout matched or contrasted to your tile as you prefer, and apply sealant in all perimeter joints and internal corners to allow for building movement.

Sometimes, though matching tiles that are out of production is genuinely difficult. If you have spares, bring them. If not, we can advise on the closest available match or suggest a contrasting tile that makes the repair look intentional.

We can strip out existing tiles and prepare the substrate as part of the project. Stripping is priced separately because the substrate condition is unknown until the old tiles come off. We quote both elements before work starts.

Large format tiles can work well in smaller bathrooms by reducing the visual noise of grout lines and making the space feel bigger. The right tile size depends on room proportions, layout and your preference. We advise on site.

Yes. Floor-to-ceiling tiling is one of our specialties. The key is a solid, properly tanked substrate, a fall to the drain accurate to within millimetres, and adhesive and grout that handle full saturation. We have done dozens across Sussex.

Do you supply tiles or do I need to source them myself?

We can supply tiles if you prefer, or work from tiles you have sourced yourself. Either way, we check quantities and advise on wastage allowance before ordering. Buying your own tiles is often cheaper, particularly if you have a trade account.

Cost depends on tile type, room size, and substrate condition. As a guide, tiling starts from around 45 pounds per square metre for ceramic and goes up to 90 plus for natural stone. We quote the full project including prep and waterproofing before any work starts.

Properly installed bathroom tiles will last 20 to 30 years or more. The adhesive and grout will outlast the substrate if installed correctly. The limiting factor is usually the substrate or the waterproofing system, not the tiles themselves.
